Performance issues with Office 2013

Upon upgrading to Office 2013 from older versions, you experience slower performance or more crashes than you have been used to. An example might be that PowerPoint is slow to respond to mouse-clicks or you experience a time lag of half a second or more with slide transitions.

Step-by-step

Follow the steps below to disable hardware acceleration:

  1. Start Microsoft PowerPoint 2013.
  2. On the File tab, click Options.
  3. In the Options dialog box, click Advanced.
  4. In the list of available options, click to select the Disable hardware graphics acceleration check box.
  5. In the list of available options, click to select the Disable Slide Show hardware graphics acceleration check box.
  6. Click OK.
