Disabling Excel and PowerPoint Add-ins
Posted: 08 January 2016 09:38 AM

The Microsoft Office plugin ecosystem has one problem in that it does not effectively isolate plugins from one another. OMBEA Response lives in PowerPoint and uses Microsoft Excel for its charts, which means this problem could stem from either PowerPoint or Excel.

Step-by-step

Office 2010 and 2013

  1. In Excel and PowerPoint click on the File menu.
  2. Choose Excel Options or PowerPoint Options as appropriate, and then Options.
  3. On the left hand side click Addins.
  4. At the bottom of this new window there is a drop down menu. Change the drop down menu to “COM Addins” and click Go.
  5. Check or uncheck different addins and click OK.
  6. We recommend you restart your computer before relaunching OMBEA and checking to see if the problem persists.

Office 2007

  1. In Excel and PowerPoint click on the Office button in the top left hand corner.
  2. Choose Excel Options or PowerPoint Options as appropriate.
  3. Click Addins.
  4. At the bottom of this new window there is a drop down menu. Change the drop down menu to “COM Addins” and click Go.
  5. Check or uncheck different addins and click OK.
  6. We recommend you restart your computer before relaunching OMBEA and checking to see if the problem persists.
